On March 16, both counties in which Corda Solar operates (Contra Costa and Alameda) issued shelter-in-place orders because of the Covid-19 pandemic. On March 19, the State of California issued a similar state-wide shelter-in-place order. I spoke with an employee at the Contra Costa County Health department who confirmed that Corda Solar’s plan to perform spring pool solar start-up services is within the guidelines. I also contacted the California Solar and Storage Association. They have issued a memo explaining how solar companies fall within the essential services exemption of the state order. Therefore, we intend to perform spring start-up services beginning next Monday, March 30. We have made a few changes to our spring start up service routine based on social distancing and hygiene protocols. Here is the plan:
- Gary will perform the services himself this year with our son Matt Corda to help him. Since we live in the same house, they can travel and work together closely.
- Gary and Matt will either wear gloves or they will use disinfectant wipes or spray on anything they touch that is accessible to homeowners (such as your gate’s latch or your pool control panel or valve).
- They will observe social distancing protocols, staying 6 feet away from all residents (and pets).
- As always, for safety reasons, they will not do any service calls in rainy weather or on wet roofs.
If you are a solar pool customer and you do NOT want Gary and Matt to start up your solar at this time, please contact me at courtney@cordasolar.com so we can either refund your money or reschedule your service to later.
